What is a Price Book?

A price book is a list of prices that you maintain to identify price cycles. It is most commonly used when grocery shopping however can be used for any regular consumer purchases. After you have been shopping for a while you will notice that similar discounted prices keep appearing on specific grocery items. Traditionally a price book would contain information about the best shelf price that you can buy a product for, sorted by its unit price.

Although, the initial set-up of your price book can be time consuming, the savings have shown to be worth while over time. In addition items such as coffee, soft drinks and even toilet paper all follow these price cycles and you can save money if you know when they are on special and at their lowest price.

A well-structured price book will list the prices per unit, because some multi-packs can be cheaper and if you do the maths you might find that this is not always the case.  Fortunately, in Australia recent Unit Pricing Code legislation encourages the display of price per on the price tag so comparing similar items has been made a lot easier for the price sensitive consumer.

At myPrice.com.au you can maintain your own online price book and set your price on thousands of items and best of all when the grocery item is on special we will be sure to let the you know where you can find those low food prices.
